Parade Rules
1. Your entry will be assigned an order. The order is determined by a number of variables. When you are lining up, please leave room for the people in front of you should you be there first. If you are not in the correct order, you may be asked to step out of line and/or will not be allowed to be in the parade.
2. Keep the parade moving at all times. Please maintain NO MORE THAN 1/4 block between each entry. This is very important for the smooth flow of the entire Parade.
3. NO THROWING ITEMS: Nothing can be thrown from your float, car, or entry. Nothing can be handed out from a float, car, or entry. This is an important safety issue. Candy and other item can ONLY be gently handed out by walkers affiliated with your entry to prevent people from running into the street as well as from being hurt from flying projectiles. We will have street monitors along the parade route who will note any infractions. Those who do not abide by the rules will be notified, potentially fined, and at risk of not being able to participate in future parades.
4. All floats must be family friendly. This includes only having appropriate content as well as no alcoholic beverages or drug-related paraphernalia. NOTE: Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on public streets by City Ordinance.
5. Water balloons, squirt guns, or any other water-fighting paraphernalia are NOT ALLOWED. Parade participants are prohibited from throwing water balloons or spraying the spectators with water.
6. The parade route is also used as an emergency exit for police and fire vehicles. If you see or hear a unit responding to an emergency, please pull to the right side of the route and allow the vehicle to pass.
7. All entries with horses or dogs must provide their own "pooper scoopers", following their pre-approved entry into the parade.
8. You will be held liable for any injuries &/or police citations.
9. For-profit and political candidates have an entry fee of $150 due to the City by June 15.
Note: All fire departments participating in the water fight activity after the parade, please go to the Ralston Fire Dept., 7625 Park Drive.
